Group One Underwood Stakes – Caulfield 23/09/2023

Another brilliant race here with some Melbourne Cup and Caulfield cup hopes looking to kick off their campaigns with a bang. We see the talented Without A Fight return here after 2 wins in Queensland last prep. Melbourne Cup winner Vow and Declare makes his return along. Muonga looks to kick off his campaign after a couple disappointing runs this prep. The race also sees Noncomformist, Soulcombe and Duais step out again. Expect Alligator Blood to take up the running and set his own speed, got his way out in front last start. Right You Are, Lindermann and Vow and Declare will also be up there in the first couple

1.    8. Without A Fight

Started near single figure odds in a Melbourne Cup first up 2 preps back. Went out to Eagle Farm first-up over 1800 and won convincingly running superb sectionals late. Couple good trials before return. Will get a nice run-in transit midfield off the rails and is good enough to win this.

2.    14 Attrition 

Steps up in trip here from the 1600-1800 after a superb effort finishing 2nd 0.1L in G2 company last start running solid late splits suggesting he’ll love the 1800m. He ran his L400-200 1.1L slower than class average and his L200 1.7L quicker than class average. He showed an excellent turn of foot and has plenty more up his sleeve. Map is very tough out the back from the wide gate but could overcome.

Always included and will always be up there. He is fit and he’s tough and will get his way out in front. Consistantly runs good enough figures to win this race. Classy.
