Group 1 Golden Rose – Rosehill 23/09/2023

A top-quality race here with some of the best 3yo’s in the country looking to kick off their spring campaigns. Expect a slowly run race here without much speed on paper. Expect Charm Stone, Moravia and Encap to shoot up from there low draws. King Colorado and Cylinder have good gate speed and should be up there in the leading division. Shinzo from the high draw should be out the back. 

1 Militarize 

Showed up late last prep running an excellent rating over the 1400m and 1600m on wet tracks, winning both at G1 level. Resumed with a solid run finishing 5th 0.7L over the 1200m on a dry track. Draws well and blinkers on could see him settle a little closer. A bit uncertain about that but must be on him here at the price. Top pick.

Excellent SP profile and has the figures to go with it. Only query is his 1400m run was poor last prep on the heavy surface (has won on wet). Best horse over 1200m however his late splits over those trips haven’t been as convincing as others stepping out to 1400.

Attractive price here at double figure odds 5 runs into his campaign. He put up a good figure after sitting on a hot tempo last start over 1400m at Rosehill and that’ll be enough to see him in the finish here. Expect him to back it up with the added fitness and favourable map. Hes stepped up from Maiden class early this prep to winning a G3 last start by nearly 2L. Is up to this.
