BEST BET - #1 - Kalino
Kalino is a talented and honest Gelding who comes to the races 2nd up on Saturday for the Waller stable, racing under Dylan Gibbons this time. He showed scope for improvement first up winning impressively after striking interference at the start of the run and being bumped, still drawing clear in the last 150m to win and have a race best last 600m. He maps to sit in a handy position and run over them again.

THE DANGER - #3 - Garrison
Garrison is another talented looking type, he won at Randwick in the midweeks first up after a few soft trials 2 weeks back showing a monster turn of foot, taking over from the 350m to win in fast time. If his prior 2nd up record says anything there is more scope for improvement and I think he can run a cracker of a race with some luck.

VALUE BET - 2. Destination - (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I have to include Destination at the big odds here. I think he has to be forgiven for last run when he just never got clear running and was checked around a bunch. He was against the race there but has been excellent this prep prior and whilst this is harder he draws softly and gets Bullock on board.

BEST BET - #7 - Royal Merchant - (NEXT BEST)
Royal Merchant has been in outstanding form this prep, winning first two outings back to back and then failing to go on with it, just missing to the smart Irish Kisses. Those two put a big gap on the rest and ran great times, has consistently shown a pattern of motoring home late and I think he is a good chance to pick up another win at this 1300m distance and on the good going.

THE DANGER - #11 - Strait Acer
I think that Strait Acer really showed something first up two weeks back at Randwick, he was never really given the chance to get into it after being badly crowded at jump and still ran a great time and exhibited the race best last 600m. He can only improve further and get fitter from that and showed a lot of talent in his last prep. I think he is capable of taking this out.

VALUE BET - #2 - Gracilistyla
Gracilistyla resumes for his first run for the Waller stable after a decently long spell and has had just the one public trial when ridden quietly. His last two runs last prep were both 4th placings behind some smart winners and there have been multiple winners from both those races since. I think that he is capable of running a good race at odds and will have my eye on him come race day.

BEST BET - #4 - Dehorned Unicorn - (BEST BET)
Dehorned Unicorn is in outstanding form this prep with 2 wins and a second placing in three runs and looks a good shot to make it one more win. Won at this track and distance over the good going first up before going onto bigger races and then most recently picked up another win at Randwick over same distance and similar ground. Clipperton retains the ride and he doesn’t take on much weight, I think he can take this out.

THE DANGER - #8 - Spacewalk
Spacewalk looks dangerous in this field. He has had just the one soft winning trial to ready him for this and resumes from a 4 month break after coming 2nd at Flemington in slightly stronger company than this on a soft track, he looked the winner there but lost on protest. I am excited for his return to the races and think he will give Dethorned Unicorn a run for his money.

VALUE BET - #3 - Midwest
Midwest is screaming for a win. He has been in great form with two placings before being sent to the paddock for a 5 week let up and now resumes ready for this. Last start he showed that the engine was genuine when motoring up at the turn behind a smart all the way winner. I think that with some luck he can win this.

He is the in form apprentice that can’t set a foot wrong at the moment and has made a name for himself amongst some top stables in New South Wales and he gets a bunch of top rides for Saturday’s meeting at Rosehill Racecourse. I have outlined his rides below:

For my Multi I am going to take my best bets all to place as my other multis are a bit riskier. I am going to try to hedge a bit against all the straight bets I have as through multi place betting we are able to get the leg to be green if the horse comes anywhere in the top three and by combining runners we can still generate good odds.

I think that in Rosehill race 7 the top three selections rate a fair bit above the rest and as such is a good opportunity for a trifecta bet. Particularly, I favour Dehorned Unicorn and Spacewalk to be in the top three and as such I have sought to minimise the rest of my selections as to optimise our payout.
