Bunbury Racecourse is located 173km South of Perth’s CBD in Western Australia. The track is near the coast and near the popular tourist destination of Koombana Bay. Each year, we see several race meetings held at the track and it is a major training centre as well.
The track boasts modern-day facilities and a stack of social events, so it’s more than just racing here. The home straight is run across a distance of 348m and runners are almost always turning on this track, which makes it a tricky task for backmarkers to make up some ground.
Best Bookmakers for Horse Racing

We feature many of the most popular bookies and have in-depth reviews on them. However, for this page, we’ve got two in mind that we think you’ll like.

Bunbury Betting Strategy Types
If you’re new to the world of horse racing betting, you may think that developing a betting strategy is complicated. In fact, it is quite easy and most of the time any Bunbury racing tips you find will feature a recommended betting strategy that focuses on different bet types.
The are many different bet types available in horse racing and we’ve got three in particular that we want to talk about on this page:
Exacta
If you like your exotic tips, then you’ve probably already heard about an Exacta. To be successful with your Exacta bet, you have to pick the horse that will win the race and the horse that will finish in second, in the correct order.
The Exacta can be quite popular for Bunbury horse racing tips because it is fairly simple to understand and the payout can be quite good. This is especially the case if the two horses you are picking have high odds.
Trifecta
With the Exacta, you are looking for the first two runners across the line. For the Trifecta, things get a little harder as you are looking for the first three runners across the line. Again, you need to pick the first three in the correct order.
The Trifecta can offer some pretty lucrative odds as well, so that’s why so many try their hand at it with their Bunbury racing tips. While it can be tricky to land a Trifecta, you can always add more than three runners to your bet, to increase your chances of hitting.
Quadrella
One of the most popular and most difficult bet types to land is the Quadrella, also known as the Quaddie. For your Quaddie to be successful, you need to pick the winner of four consecutive races on the card at Bunbury.
Bunbury tips for today may include a Quaddie because of the payout potential. So, even though it is very difficult to land, you could be in for a massive payday, depending on the odds of the runners you are including in your bet.
Bunbury Racecourse History
Bunbury Racecourse has a long and rich history and it is the Bunbury Cup that has captured the attention of many over the years. The first Bunbury Cup was run in 1894, when won by 5YO gelding, Tremloando. The Bunbury Cup currently hosts Listed status.
In 2021, Bunbury Racecourse underwent some track development and this included upgrades for the new course proper, new training track, new drainage for both tracks, new irrigation systems for all tracks as well as new horse stalls. This work was completed in 2022 and was well received by industry locals.

Bunbury Racecourse Race Distance Guide
f you are looking for Bunbury race tips, they must consider the race distance (among many other things). The race distance will dictate where on the track the race starts from and the influence barriers may have over the race.
We’ve gone through and found all the most common race distances and provided a guide on each of them here:
Distance: | Guide: |
1,000m | At the shortest distance, runners start midway through the back straight and don’t have much time before the final turn, which is quite sharp. Inside barriers have more advantages here. |
1,100m | Starting 100m further back compared to the 1,000m races, runners have a little bit more time before the first and final turn. Inside barriers still have an advantage here. |
1,200m | Races here start in a chute and runners have the entire back straight before the first and final turn. Inside barriers don’t have as much of an advantage, but could still come into play. |
1,400m | At 1,400m, runners start in another chute and they are fed onto the middle of a wide turn and then have the entire back straight before the final turn. Inside barriers seem to have more advantages here |
1,675m | Runners begin the race at the start of a sweeping turn and it feels like they are turning for the entire race. Due to this, barriers come into play here and inside barriers are more favourable. |
2,200m | Runners have the whole home straight before needing to complete an entire lap of the track. Barriers don’t play as much of a role here considering the distance of the race. |
