Win Bet

It’s the simplest of all the bet types and perfect for beginning because it is so easy to understand. You’ll also find that the majority of Sunshine Coast horse tips will feature at least one Win Bet, so if you are just looking to copy an expert’s tips, this is probably the way to go.

The Win Bet involves simply picking the horse you think will win the race. The odds for this bet type usually won’t be as lucrative as some of the more exotic bets, but all you need to do is find the winner and if you can find a nice roughie, there’s still a nice payout involved.

Multi

From one extreme to the other, the Multi is one of the more complicated bet types available. In saying that, it is as complicated as you make it. For example, the more legs you add to your Multi, the more complicated it will get.

You can add pretty much anything you like to your Multi and the more established bookies will have more options available for you to add. If you choose to add a heap of legs to your multi, this will increase both the odds and the difficulty of landing the bet.

Quadrella

When it comes to Sunshine race tips, the Quadrella (Quaddie) is one of the most interesting and many like to have a small play on the Quaddie each week, just to be in the running for a massive payout if it lands.

Exotic tips like Quaddie are quite popular and involve picking the winner of four consecutive races on the card at Sunshine Coast. Now you can probably understand why it’s so difficult to land a Quaddie because it’s tricky to back one winner, let alone four!

Sunshine Coast Racecourse History

Operated by Sunshine Coast Turf Club, Sunshine Coast Racecourse has seen many changes over the years. The initial building of the track was completed in 1985 and it was the first major Queensland-based racecourse built outside of the metropolitan Brisbane area for over 50 years.

There are three different types of tracks at Sunshine Coast, including an all-weather track, which allows for racing all year round. In 2008, the club became the first home of synthetic racing in Queensland and this Cushion Track was used until 2021.

In 2021, it was replaced with the current all-weather Poly Track. The Poly Tack was not introduced to replace the main Grass Track, but instead to complement it. There are many benefits of synthetic surfaces in racing, like minimal irrigation, better rider safety and low maintenance costs.

Distance:	Guide:
850m	Probably the shortest distance you’ll see in a horse race and here runners start in a chute that leads directly onto the first and final turn, which gives the inside barriers more of an advantage.
1,000m	Similar to the 850m distance races, but here races begin in a different chute which has a longer straight. The chute feeds onto the course proper at a similar place to the 850m races. Inside barriers have more of an advantage.
1,200m	At this distance, runners have a significant chunk of straight to jostle for position before the final turn. Inside barriers don’t have as much of an advantage here.
1,300m	The 1,300m races are quite similar to the 1,200m ones, although runners begin in a chute just off the course proper, providing a longer straight before the first and final turn.
1,400m	Again, very similar to the 1,200m and 1,300m races. In fact, 1,400m races at this track start in the same chute as the 1,300m races, which gives runners 100m more straight to figure things out before the only turn.
1,600m	Runners begin this race in a chute which is a little further back on the track. They have a minor kink in the track to contend with before the final turn, therefore, inside barriers don’t really have that much of an advantage.
1,800m	Races at 1,800m also start in a chute which is close to the finishing post. The chute leads them onto the course proper and the first turn of the race, which does give inside barriers somewhat of an advantage.
2,200m	Runners start just before the finishing post and have a significant amount of straight to work things out before they complete a full lap of the track.

How to Get to Sunshine Coast Racecourse

It takes less than an hour to get to Sunshine Coast from Brisbane if you are travelling by car and there is plenty of parking available from Pierce Avenue. There is also a dedicated members’ car park. The racecourse is also wheelchair accessible, with access through gates right around the ground.

In terms of public transport, the Translink route 603 runs on the weekend, starting and ending at the racecourse.
