Friday Racing Tips - Ipswich Racecourse 30/12/22

Friday racing at Ipswich this week on the last day of the year and is shaping up to be a nice outer city card of racing with two staying races and the rest over sprint or close to sprint distances. There are some prominent stables who have put forward runners for the day and as such I think there are some spots worth a bet.

The track is predicted to be a soft 5 and the weather looks ideal, with the rail out +10m, we could see upgrades to the track but expect it to remain in that range. I have outlined my best, next best and roughie of the day as well as a multi to follow for the day and a quaddie.

OnlyRacing wishes you a Happy New Year to you all. Let's pick up some winners to send into the new year!

Ipswich Race 1 – CLASS 3 HCP (1200m)

Selections:
#3 - Merseyside - $2.35 - (BEST BET)
#1 - Ain't She Lovely - $3.50
#2 - Blinding Light - $9.00
#6 - Shagonarock - $3.20

BEST BET - #3 - Merseyside - (BEST BET)
I generally don’t like tipping in the early races but I think that Merseyside is the clear on topper here. She surprised punters first up last start when winning after a huge drift in the market and Brodie Loy retains the ride here, finds a similar field and maps to get every chance from the good gate. I think that the rail being out is going to help the leaders but she draws right inside at barrier one and should be able to find a cosy spot in transit

VALUE BET - #2 - Blinding Light
Blinding light showed some talent last prep picking up multiple wins and looked to be running for the sake of improving fitness last time out when sitting on the speed and fading to finish last at the Gold Coast. Now she looks fitter and drops back in distance, gets a better map this time if she can conserve her energy she should be storming home late

THE DANGER - #1 - Ain't She Lovely
Ain’t she Lovely has been running well without winning this campaign, with 3 placings in 5 runs this prep. The stable gave her a little break before returning and placing back to back in her last two outings. She looked the winner last time out drawing clear in the last 200m but just ran her legs off a bit too much and was swamped late. Her form reads well for this and the track / map / rail combo is all in her favour.

Ipswich Race 5 – BM65 HCP (1200m)

Selections:
#1 - Lucifer's Reward - $6.50
#6 - Mista Omega - $4.60
#10 - Tres Redoute - $7.50 - (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
#8 - Miss Baltimore - $13.00

BEST BET - #1 - Lucifer's Reward
Lucifer’s reward looks to be a great chance in a race with a solid amount of depth. He has been running exceptionally this campaign with 2 wins and a second placing in 4 runs. The 2nd placing was at his most recent outing when still looks to be tough and fit. He was wide throughout and endured a tough run, just unable to go on with the winner in the last 200m. Both him and the winner looked a fair bit more talented than the rest. I think that if he is steered correctly from the inside draw he can take this out.

VALUE BET - #10 - Tres Redoute - (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Tres Redoute exhibited some talent first up at Ballina when placing 3rd off a big run from off the speed and chasing hard from the 200m. He raced a bit too keenly early there and then went for another outing when fading to finish 5th after beginning awkwardly and also still racing a bit greenly. He will be fitter now and manners should improve, has been running decent times and looks to be quite smart.

THE DANGER - #6 - Mista Omega
Mista Omega was running well last campaign with a win and placing in 4 runs. I am most enticed by the win that was picked up at eagle farm when he was running awkwardly initially but showed some talent, shifting in at the turn and drawing clear of the field to win comfortably over the 1000m on similar ground to this. He was sent back to the paddock and comes back to race after 19 weeks, with a doomben trial in hand and I think he could have some in pocket to make this interesting.

Ipswich Race 6 – BM70 HCP (800m)

Selections:
#5 - Sequesay - $4.40 - (NEXT BEST)
#2 - The Billionaire - $5.50
#11 - Better Winsome - $3.90
#7 - Cosmic Serenade - $5.00

BEST BET - #5 - Sequesay - (NEXT BEST)
Sequesay is a horse that looks to have a bright future and is progressing nicely and patiently. He came off a 12 week spell a couple weeks ago here when he won first up at Toowoomba when getting the gun run and holding them at bay. Came back to the races after that with a better time but failed to win, his start costing him the race. Forgive that, he comes into this now 3rd up, fitter and better for the experience and I think that this will be achievable to take out.

VALUE BET - #11 - Better Winsome
Better Winsome can’t be excluded in this race, gets in with no weight and the inside draw over a short distance and has the fitness advantage with a run under his belt this prep and two prior trials. He didn’t do much first up but we know from that run that she has plenty of speed when showing a tremendous turn of foot before fading over the last 200 metres. This distance looks ideal.

THE DANGER - #2 - The Billionaire
The Billionaire is an honest horse who had a successful last prep and is having some success this prep again, with two 2nd placings in two runs since returning to the races. He looked the winner last time out but lost on a protest and I think that is good enough for this. He won 3rd up last prep and he looks suited on the reasonably firm going and over the short sprint distance.

Jockey Of The Day – Brodie Loy

Brodie Loy goes on top here today for me, Andrew Mallyon is making an appearance as well but only for one race. Regardless, I like Brodie and even though he gets a short stack of rides he has a chance of taking out all of them.

R1 - #3 - Mereyside - $2.25
R3 - #4 - Mirror One - $7.50
R7 - #5 - Wuddacuddashudda - $4.50

Exotic Tips For Ipswich

I am going to try to pick up the quaddie here as I think that the one staying race and 3 sprints are very achievable here and am looking for a bit of value in this quaddie as my multi could be considered ‘safer’.

Our experts have curated a bet type information page which delves into all the different types of exotics betting, check it out for clarification on the different types of exotics betting or just to brush up on your knowledge.

Best Promotions for Ipswich

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Friday’s racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
