BEST BET - #14 – Awesome John (NEXT BEST)
Awesome John has seen an outstanding prep with 2 wins and 2 placings in 5 runs this campaign. He likes the ground that we are set to have here at Flemington on saturday, gets in light, has Kah retaining the ride and a good gate. In a race without much speed and based of his turn of foot last time out at Hawkesbury I think he won’t be far away in the run.   

VALUE BET - #8 - Blushing Tycoon 
Blushing Tycoon looks to be peaking in fitness and the camp is getting the tactics right with 2 2nd placings in his last two runs, he showed good closing speed last time out but peaked just before the line and found a smart type in the last 50 metres. He drops back in distance here which is generally a query for me but I expect a forward showing from the decent draw and Shinn is always a bonus.

THE DANGER - #9 – Desperado 
Desperado is very interesting, he resumed off a near year long spell last time out at Warrnambool where he actually had a pre race incident and still managed a soft win in great time. You would have to expect further improvement second up now and racing for the ever prominent Maher and Eustace camp, he maps to settle wide and back but I can see him having every chance to run over the top of them late, the only thing that concerns me is the overall lack of speed in the race does not favour him.

BEST BET - #6 – Rose Quartz (BEST BET)
Rose Quartz is a great straight track running horse who has 3 wins in 4 runs here at Flemington, with her only failure being on a soft7 in group 3 company. She is a true dry tracking horse (4 wins, 2 placing in 8 dry track runs)  which is perfect and the high tempo that will be set by Yulong command looks to play in her favour. The form off her last run reads well as her and Jigsaw put a huge margin on the rest.

VALUE BET - #1 – Halvorsen 
Halvorsen has run some cracker races down the straight and is something of a track speciliast here with 5 wins, is also a proven second up winner with 2 2nd up wins in 6 attempts. He ran a fast time 4th at this track and conditions last time out and expect him to improve sharply. 

THE DANGER - #2 – Esta La Roca 
Esta La Roca is a very talented horse who is always around the mark and looks to be just behind the pace setters in this race. Comes back from an 8 week let up after a second placing at the valley in heavy conditions, he did it tough out wide and still managed to close the gap there. Looks suited on the straight, the ground is a query for him but rarely ever runs a bad race and looks the danger in this field.

BEST BET - #7 – Corona Lad 
Corona Lad is a horse I have a lot of love for, he has been given a freshen after his most recent run and is in strong form this campaign with 2 wins in 8 runs, he comes into this race with 2 recent placings in strong company and drops back down in distance, hes been running cracker times and just couldn't get lucky last time out doing it tough out wide. I think (and hope) he storms over these with top jockey Blake Shinn

VALUE BET - #14 - Jet Jitsu (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) 
Jet Jitsu has been amazing since switching camps and he looks deserving of a step up to Saturday grade racing. Harry Coffey retains the ride from the last time out win and think he can run a cheeky rail hugging win, looks to be way over the odds here but that does come from the uncertainty of stepping up in class. 

THE DANGER - #12 - Victory Bay 
Victory Bay just missed last start and won 2 runs back on the synthetic as a $6 chance, the second placing was a strong run despite being carried wide around the turn and was only nabbed very late. Gets Luke nolen on now and strips fitter, draws better, I think he can give corona lad a run for his money if everything goes right, just failing to see how he is priced the way he is and for that reason will be on the above 2.
