BEST BET - #5 - Green Shadows - (BEST BET)
Green Shadows gets all the green ticks as he goes to a bigger track and goes up in trip. He has had a month between runs racing over 1400m at Randwick where he got going late but showed a lot of promise there, nearly taking out the winner Kanazawa. He will be fitter now and ready to step up in trip and I think he will relish the big track. He goes on top.

VALUE BET - #12 - Semana
Semana hasn’t run a bad race since debuting at the races. On debut, won on a bogged down Musswellbrook track then went to Gosford where chasing hard all run over the 1200m to end up 3rd and showing scope for improvement. Went to Goulburn from there when absolutely thrashing the field and winning smartly and most recently stepped up to Canterbury when 2nd, just being grabbed late. Gets Tyler Schiller on and draws to find the front easily.

THE DANGER - #8 - Wineglass Bay
Wineglass Bay is the UK import making his debut for the Waller stable. He looks to be a staying type so the 1500m fresh makes sense here. He has had a Flemington jump out and then a trial here where he appeared to have a tonne in hand. The market clearly sees something in him as well..

BEST BET - #8 - Vreneli (NEXT BEST)
Vreneli gets the gun draw and this suits him perfectly, he’s been given 5 weeks between runs since he ran an all the way winner over the 1200m here at Rosehill. He maps to do the same here, sit in front and kick off. I am unsure about the extra 200m here but if he looks and races similarly to how he did there and the track is playing to his favour he will take this out.

THE DANGER - #5 - Cuban Royale
Cuban Royale is the obvious danger in this race as the R & L Price runner progresses through the grades. Brock Ryan has been with him all prep and after trialling nicely for his return he went to Kembla over the 1200m where he torched them from the 300m, moving onto Saturday grade at Kensington he again picked up the win, this time over the 1300m. The 1400m isn’t too much of a query for me as he appears to be a smart type however, history suggests he does his best work fresh and perhaps he won’t be able to catch Vreneli.

VALUE BET - #12 - Nicci’s Fling
Nicci’s Fling is over the odds here. She is still a knockout hope but her two runs this prep have shown something. Most recently, she worked hard to the line late, although not threatening that was behind the smart Sunshine in Paris. She goes up in trip now from her two 1200m runs and maps to be a lot closer in the run, won’t be surprised to see her in the placings.

BEST BET - #5 - Aleas 
Aleas has been brought along nicely until now for the Waller stable, looking to claim a win. They have kept him cold since the ATC Cup where he went wide but he just kept finding more late in the race to end up third to Bonny Ezra. His trial last week was excellent and I think this is just a matter of where he settles after the jump.

VALUE BET - #13 - Mission Pheonix - (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
Mission Pheonix is such a good horse. He’s been running well this campaign with two wins and a two third placings in all four runs this prep. He came to Randwick last time out after picking up consecutive country wins and led throughout, still fighting hard in the final 400m but being outgunned by some fitter, smart types. He draws wide again here but should be rock hard fit and if Schiller can ride him decently he can take this out.

THE DANGER - #3 - Bonny Ezra 
Bonny Ezra is the stable mate to Aleas, he won the ATC cup three runs back at a huge price when overlooked in the market and has since run in the Summer Cup where he was never a threat but still closed off nicely, again, the key to him like the others is where he settles. The talent is there.

I am siding with Tyler Schiller here, the inform recently promoted out of the apprentice rankings jockey. Schiller has been exceptional over the last 12 months and has a particular liking for this track, being one of the top 10 jockeys here. He gets a nice booking of rides and I am keen to be with him, I have outlined them below:

I was initially going to try and tackle the quaddie today for Rosehill but after doing form on the whole card I think that a trifecta in race 7 is appropriate, the top 4 selections stand a fair bit taller than the rest of this field and whilst I think some runners may need the run to win, I am quite confident on being able to pick those that will compose the placings.
