Wednesday Racing Tips - Warwick Farm 11/1/23

OnlyRacing wishes everyone a Happy New Year! Midweek racing continues at Warwick Farm off the back of last week’s inaugural midweek race meeting of the year. We had quite a decent string of bets here last week with my roughie of the day running second and a few more of our outlined runners picking up wins or into the placings.

This week we again see a 7 race card, with competitive racing on the program. We have had a fair bit of rain lately in Sydney so the track is expected to be a soft 5 but the last 2 days have been hot and dry so I think it could be upgraded to a good 4.

I have outlined my best, next best and roughie of the day as well as a trifecta and a multi to follow over the course of the day.

Warwick Farm Race 1 – MDN HCP (1400m)

Selections:
#3 - The Englishman - $3.60
#1 - Step Aside - $3.20
#9 - Moscow Night (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY) - $7.00
#5 - Were Da Ya Get It - $9.50

BEST BET - #3 - The Englishman
Tipping in the Maidens this week and lord help me.. This race does appear to be very intriguing, in particular these top three selections. The Englishman is racing for the prominent Snowden stable who have a thing for horses breaking maiden, has had 2 trials leading into this and the 1400m first up looks ideal. He showed a lot of talent at his only start at Kensington and as long as he can navigate the draw and solidly sized field I think he will show us something big on race day.

THE DANGER - #1 - Step Aside
This does look to be contested by The Englishman and Step Aside, at least on paper. Step Aside has done no wrong this prep, placing second in back to back outings at this track, however both of those were as an odds on favourite and as such has been costly for punters. I think that he will be hard fit now and stays at the 1400m off the back of the last run here. Looks like a good shot to take this out.

VALUE BET - #9 - Moscow Night - (ROUGHIE OF THE DAY)
I think that outside of the top 2 selections Moscow night looks well placed here, he didn’t do much on debut at Newcastle a month back when last in the field but was vetted there, albeit no abnormalities and was awkward in running, the run all in all didn’t make sense off the back of his two trials before it. Was sent back for a let up and has trialled again since at Rosehill, showing talent again when easily winning with what looked to be some in hand. He should roll forward again and without too much speed in the race will take catching.

Warwick Farm Race 3 – BM64 HCP (1000m)

Selections:
#5 - Optimo (NEXT BEST) - $4.20
#7 - Nickelback - $3.00
#3 - Hollywood North - $4.20
#2 - Kobe Rocks - $4.00

BEST BET - #5 - Optimo - (NEXT BEST)
Optimo is a horse that strikes my interest, he resumes on Wednesday at Warwick Farm after two nice trials to prepare him for this, the most recent one he cruised through the trial and when asked for a bit he gave plenty, looks to have a genuine engine under the hood. He has strong first up form and gets Pebble on who is making his debut in Sydney for the year.

THE DANGER - #7 - Nickelback
Nickelback could be a star in the making for Team Hawkes. The Nicconi gelding has three placings and a win this prep in six runs and comes into this off a nice run at Randwick last time out when beaten under a length at the 1500m. He gets in light here, Tommy Berry is aboard and is in a small field, I think he can take this out.

VALUE BET - #2 - Kobe Rocks
Not too much value in my value bet for this race but I think that in the small field the top chances really are Kobe Rocks and the other 2 I outlined. Kobe Rocks comes into this on a short 5 day back up when second but that was on a bogged track and her best is on bog tracks so the firmer ground is a query for me here.

Warwick Farm Race 5 – BM72 HCP (1400m)

Selections:
#4 - Miss Lenorr (BEST BET) - $4.00
#1 - Elettrica - $4.20
#6 - Summerbeel - $9.50
#3 - Black On Beauty - $5.00

BEST BET - #4 - Miss Lenorr - (BEST BET)
I am backing Miss Lenorr off the back of her last run, where I was backing another smart horse from the Waller stable, First Light, who Miss Lenorr somehow managed to beat amongst the rest of the field bar the winner. She was magical there, coming from last with no favours to weave between runners and fly home to just miss. To say she should have been the winner there is an understatement, she should have torched them. Comes back now to BM72 grade and the 1400m, maps better and I am always happy to see Dyl Gib booked for the ride. I’ll make her my best of the day.

THE DANGER - #1 - Elettrica
Elettrica is another on a quick back up, at most recent raced at this track and distance a week ago when just luckless in the run, being bumped around early and never being able to get clear. He still managed to run a decent time there but was good prior to that, coming 3rd at Randwick showing a lot of fight, chasing hard in the last 250m. Should be hard fit now and finds a winnable race.

VALUE BET - #6 - Summerbeel
Summerbeel is interesting, he resumes off a near year-long spell and has had a heap of trials to prepare him for his return. He has shown some talent in these 4 trials and the engine under the hood could very well be genuine. Previously has run well on a softer track and if the track doesn’t dry out too much, and with a bit of luck in running he could run a good race first up at odds.

Jockey Of The Day – Dylan Gibbons

I am going to stick with the ever in form A2 apprentice, Dylan Gibbons, who gets a nice booking of rides with three top chances out of his five rides for tomorrow. Gibbons primarily races for a few of the larger NSW stables, often combining for wins. I think he is a good shot to take out the TAB jockey challenge at Warwick Farm.

R1 - #8 - Utopian Spirit - $26
R2 - #2 - Moonlight Grace - $4.20
R4 - #1 - Claim The Crown - $9.00
R5 - #4 - Miss Lenorr - $4.00
R7 - #1 - He’s A Hotshot - $4.50

Multi Tips For Warwick Farm

I have chosen to combine some of my bigger odds runners that I have outlined in these Warwick Farm tips to place as well as some of my more confident tips to place into a multi. I am trying to get a bit of value here at Warwick as my Sandown multi is quite considered.

I think that the way this track plays there is always opportunity for some of the outside chances to run into the placings and hopefully tomorrow we get lucky.

I am going to try pick up our first quaddie of the year tomorrow at Warwick Farm as I think that races 4 - 7 present with an easier to analyse field than usual and that particularly from a couple of the earlier races there are a few top selections which will allow us to not spread our risk too thin.

Best Promotions for Warwick Farm

Promotions are traditionally the primary way for punters to create an edge over the bookies, as they can save your cash when your runner fails to win, in the instance of Unibet they often offer 2nd and 3rd money back in bonus bets for a selection of races on the midweek and Provincial racing days. Coupled with their generous odds I have to put them as the top bookie promotion wise at the moment for Australian racing.

If you are looking for the best promotions this week for Friday’s racing I wouldn’t look past Unibet, often they offer odds boosts in addition to the money back promotions. Don’t forget to check your account as well for personal offers.

Promotions often change so make sure you sign up at unibet.com.au to see what promotions are applicable to you and you may even be surprised to find some promotions that weren’t mentioned here!
